Position and Direction
From the Series My Path to Math - Level 2
Sam has moved to a new neighborhood with his family. Kids will learn about position and direction by following along with Sam in his new home. Where will he put things in his room - top, bottom, inside, or outside? Where is his new friend hiding - behind, in front, above, or below? Simple text and diagrams also teach such concepts as up and down, left and right, and north, south, east, and west.

Position and Direction - Children's Literature
New math concepts are explained in a story about Sam’s move into a new house. The moving van is outside, Sam is inside. When he organizes his bookcase items are placed on the top, middle or bottom shelves. The stairs take him up and down and when he meets a new friend they play a game of hide-and-seek which lets Sam hide behind a tree. Along the bottom of the page there are several activity boxes to reinforce the concepts, but no answers are provided, so parents, teachers and caregivers may want to be sure that they know the answers.
