Spotlight on Italy - Children's Literature
This slim picture book provides a very brief but wide-ranging glimpse into both the geographical and cultural aspects of Italy. It includes a map of the country which identifies major Italian cities as well as surrounding countries and seas. A short section on geography highlights the mountains, coastline and volcanic areas of the country. Other topics include historical cities, and the culture and people of Italy. This includes a spotlight on Carnevale, the holiday before Lent marking the beginning of a period of fasting. However, the text is very simply written and always limited to a few short sentences.
