Cover: Charles Darwin

From his childhood to his famous voyage of discovery, his meticulous research, and his groundbreaking On the Origin of Species, this colorful volume introduces Charles Darwin and presents the basics of his life’s work. Readers new to the subject will find this an accessible, very readable account of the man, his times, and his significance, while those familiar with Darwin will probably gain new insights. Rather than using blocks of text, the writing presents relevant topics through a mixture of historical passages offering background facts and explanations along with lists, quotes, and short features on related topics. The many illustrations, mainly archival and modern photos, are well chosen and clearly reproduced. A promising beginning for the Scientists Who Changed the World series (6 titles) and a worthwhile addition to library collections.
