Where does our food come from?
From the Series My World - GRL G
Grains, vegetables and fruits, meat, eggs, and dairy foods - where do these different food groups come from? Children will discover such things as how grains are grown in fields, which "vegetables" are really fruits, where certain fruits grow, and the importance of pollination. A special section features two natural sweeteners - honey and maple syrup - and another section gives children suggestions for eating healthy foods, such as beans of all kinds and foods made with whole grains.

Where does our food come from? - Children's Literature
As with the other titles in the “My World” series, this Level G guided reader asks a question in its title that is explored and answered in the book. Here different foods are identified including grains, vegetables, fruits, and foods from animals. With each category, the author covers where the food comes from and how it i’s grown. Examples of each food are offered as well. A spread entitled ‘Help from Bees’ explains how vital a bee’s pollinating activity is for so many of the foods we eat. Smiling close-ups of children posing in front of various foods are silhouetted against a white background.
