Lamborghini - Children's Literature

While Enzo Ferrari was winning races with his cars, Ferrucio Lamborghini was getting rich building farm tractors. He spent his wealth on fast cars and when he drove a Ferrari, he saw the potential to improve its performance. Legend has it that Ferrari was uninterested and so Lamborghini went into auto manufacturing himself. Bringing together a team of designers and builders, the first Lamborghini was on the showroom floor at the 1963 Turin Auto Show. Its sleek lines gave all the promise of speed, even though the engine, which stood on a pedestal next to it, was too big for the car. It didn’t take long to solve that problem, and from that moment on the Lamborghini line was built for car enthusiasts everywhere. With 1970s oil embargo hurting business, Lamborghini declared bankruptcy in 1978. The company ran through a string of owners including Chrysler before it was purchased by the Volkswagen Audi division. In 2010 Lamborghini made a statement by putting its new line on the market for more than the top selling Ferrari. Truly the point was made—this is a luxury automobile. The sixty-four page informational text includes historical information, color photography, technical statistics, glossary, index and timeline. Young car enthusiasts will want to include it and the entire “Superstar Cars” series in their reading libraries. Reviewer: Janis Flint-Ferguson
